World Suicide Prevention Day 2014

One World Connected

This year's theme is One World Connected.

PAPYRUS believes that many young suicides are preventable and that we can all play our part in that prevention. Through talking, asking about suicide, listening and being open to connecting with people about suicide, we can help to create a world which is suicide-safer, a society which does not hide suicide or shy away from dealing with it.

Suicide is a major public health concern in the UK and across the world. Each World Suicide Prevention Day is an opportunity for friends, family and professionals to join together across all societies, cultures and countries to acknowledge that suicide is something we want to work together to prevent.

For PAPYRUS, young suicide prevention is our focus.

Suicide is the leading cause of death in under 35’s in the UK.
On a global scale, it is the second leading cause of death in 15-29 year olds.

This year, on 10 September, PAPYRUS will join the international suicide prevention community in marking World Suicide Prevention Day 2014.

PAPYRUS encourages everyone to start a conversation on 10 September and to talk more openly thereafter about the subject.
